With the new Muppets movie opening in theaters November 23, Muppet Studios released a new trailer spoofing the trailer to the American remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoos.
Edited to be a blur of images just like David Fincher's remake trailer, The Muppets couldn't get the rights to the original song, which just becomes more fodder for them. They joking state that they got some "dude" to record the song on their trailer and then repaid him by casting him in an scene so crowded with extras that it resembles a 'Where's Waldo' book.
The new Muppets movie is written by Jason Segel and like the other Muppet movies before it, this one is packed to the brim with guest stars (Mila Kunis, Zach Galifianakis, and Jack Black are just a few of them).
Segel is excited to be given the chance to work with Kermit and the gang. He told Hollywood Reporter that "Kermit made me want to be an actor when I was a kid. When you’re a kid he’s Tom Hanks, or Jimmy Stewart.”
Hopefully, it will able to capture the feel of classic Jim Henson film. In an interview with Pop Sugar Segel said, "We're trying to harken back to the original three Muppet movies, The Muppet Movie, Muppets Take Manhattan , and The Great Muppet Caper. I think one of the things the original Muppet movies did amazingly well is that they don't condescend to children by feeling like they have to dumb things down to the lowest common denominator." This new trailer proves that the Muppets aren't just for kids.
