FUNDRAISER Gary Sykes is going to have a permenant reminder of his charity efforts – a massive tattoo on his leg. The 30-year-old, from Vange, spent three hours getting a huge pink ribbon etched on to his calf, to raise money for friend Tracy King, 49, from Vange, who is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
The ribbon motif is the national symbol for breast cancer awareness. Gary, who has raised more than £700 so far from friends and local businesses, said: “Seventy five per cent of the money I’ve raised will go to Tracy. “We want her to be able to have the cruise she’s always dreamed of.
“The rest of the money will go towards Breast Cancer Research.”Gary’s tattoo was done for free at Lost Cause Tattoo Parlour, in Lower Southend Road, Wickford. Gary said: “I’ve got loads of tattoos, so I’m used to the pain. This one is very special to me. On the ribbon it reads ‘dedicated to all those fighting breast cancer’. “I’d like to thank everyone who has supported this charity venture.”
